I know in my heart that it was the right choice. We didn't have the perfect relationship. In fact, the more I think about it, the worse we were.
I know there's more fish in the sea. But way can't I stop thinking about this trout?
Sometimes I think that the timing was just off. Sometimes I know we would have a hard time and many obstacles if the opportunity to try again were to arise. Though I am doubtful that will ever come to be.
I miss him. But I must go on.

End of August
So it's the end of August, and school starts in just a week.
Friday I return home to the States.
Sunday I'll move in the new North Quad!
Woohoo!

FAIL
Okay, so overall, I failed at completing goals this week.
But I need to take this in stride, right? Every week, every goal I can't complete perfectly, on time and yeah...
I don't know, the things I didn't complete weren't the most important. And others I just don't know- since I didn't keep track of how much a spent.
I did however, complete many important tasks that were not on the list. Which is probably better anyhow.
Oh, and a new goal: ride on a Segway. A year, or two?
Can you rent one?

Where I've been....
With a bit of time on my hands, I have been reminiscing lately.... and I came across an email to an old boyfriend that I wrote almost four years ago now. Yeah, I know, why do I still have this email?
But it got me thinking of where I've been, how I've changed, and where I'm going.
Originally, I was going post the actual letter. But the nitty gritty details are not what is truly important. What is: the fact that I still don't know exactly what I want to do with my life.
But is that really important? Do I have to have everything figured out?
Yes, I keep getting the question: what are you going to do with your degree? Gees.... I don't know.
That's what I was hoping to figure out on this trip to Germany.
Well, getting fired from my internship didn't help.
So my biggest goal for this coming school year is to figure out my next step in life. Emphasize on next step- not my whole life.
I have some ideas of what I'm going to next.... and I think it's going to be great.

The Book List
So, I'm thinking, because I have limited time while I'm in school, I should list the twenty or so books that I'm going to finish this year.
Books #1-5: The Harry Potter Series #3-7
#6: 1984 by George Orwell
#7: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
#8: A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
#9: Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
#10: Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
#11: The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien
#12: The Chronicles of Narnia
#13: Alice in Wonderland
#14: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
#15: The Odyssey by Homer
#16: Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
#17: The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch
#18: Hamlet by Shakespheare
#19: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
#20: Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
Or at least something like that. Willing to take suggestions of course.

Wide Open Spaces
Okay, I just have to admit that I like Google's change to their image search- so much easier to use! Woohoo! Huh, a website change that actually makes things easier and more pleasant to use.... what a novel concept. And yes, I didn't even begin to get to the goals I have began to set for myself.
Don't you worry, I have plenty.
First of all: I would like to continue writing in a blog. One post per week should be enough, right?
(Well, that's all that is/was required of me for the summer.... I've almost written a post everyday. But my normal everyday college life isn't even a fraction as interesting as Germany has been....)
So here I go!
--go to 10 different bars by the end of the year
This means different bars, or clubs I guess. Since I have turned legal age, I haven't really gone out.... not that I did before. But I do need to go out and try new things, meet new people. And this is one way to do just that.
Also, I would like to go to different restaurants. Just because I'm going to be living next to BDubs doesn't mean I have to eat there all the time. Ann Arbor has a cornucopia of experiences and I only have one more year to take in as much as I can.
--find my own style
If truth be told, I haven't been dressing the way that I want to.... I think.... maybe.... I need to branch out from jeans, t-shirts and tennis shoes. I've started to, kinda, lately. At least with shoes. But- I've been using my size as a reason not to. And that's no excuse.
--be at my goal weight by graduation
I really don't want to tell you all what I weigh at the moment (even though I do not know at the moment), nor what I want to weigh.... though the number itself is not the goal. Let's just say this: I want to weigh the same as I did as I started college. I want to lose all fifty pounds I have gained while attending UM.
--go to gym four times a week
When I get back home at least. This will aid in the previous goal. And I really need to tone right now. And truth be told, I kinda like going to the gym.
--run a marathon by the end of 2011
I need to think big. And this will help with my other goals.
--get a job within two weeks from return to school
This means lots of applications, resumes, and interviews within the first couple weeks of school. After this trip to Germany.... I'm definitely going to need the money. Ugh.... why did the scrapbook store have to close?
--sell 10 things on Etsy
This goal is two-fold. One: it will get me crafting again. I REALLY NEED A CREATIVE OUTLET! Two: it will earn me a few extra dollars here and there. I really need to make my credit card debt smaller.
--keep my room clean and door open all school year
I'm a slob and need to change. I am not going to admit to the box of dirty dishes that is sitting in my room at home. Nope, nope, nope. As far as keeping my door open all school year, I feel like I was a little unsocial last year. Of course, this was for a few reasons. Not attending German 310, going on the spring break trip-- all in all trying to avoid my ex made it difficult to meet new people in the German house. But this next year MK is going to be twice the size- and in NORTH QUAD!! Woohoo!
--get rid of "stuff"
This goal is über simple, but at the same time, super hard! I have too much stuff. I'm a hoarder. I keep everything.
--get a 3.5 or higher both semesters
This is the goal that is going to take the most work. It's simple really: do my homework on time, go to every class- on time, etc. etc. etc.
--get all papers/thank you's done by October 5th
First of all, I need to make a list of all the things I have to do to finish to put this summer to an end. I guess the one über super awesome thing about getting fired is that I have 40 less pages to write. But there's still half a dozen or so thank you's and papers to write.
--take ten thousand pictures this next year
By the end of the school year. This one shouldn't be too hard for me. Not for me. But my main goal in making this goal is to diversify what I take pictures of-- you know, all the day to day small things that make up a life.
--read 20 books in the next year
That aren't for school. And simple romance novels don't count. I need to broaden my horizons- and books are one easy way to do this. I need to read more books by authors like Charles Dickens, Shakespeare, Jane Austin, etc. etc. etc. Perhaps I could put the Harry Potter series on the list.... since I can't seem to get past the third one.
Well, I think this is all for right now. I could be making goals for ever and ever, but really, if I stop, I don't think I'll get anywhere.

Like A Virgin
This blog is like a virgin- new and unused.
But here I come to deflower it.
Really, the point of this blog is to chronicle my goals, their progress and their completion.
Hopefully there's more on completion than just empty goals here.... and I think their progress should be the interesting part of this blog. I guess we'll see.
So, why have I started this blog? Simple. Over the summer, while writing my blog for Germany and my MIISP requirements, I came to the conclusion that I really enjoy blogging.
I mean, really enjoy blogging.
Well, not everyday of my life is a trip to Germany. I don't have kids. I'm not becoming a doctor. A wedding isn't in my near future. Though I'm a crafter, I haven't been actively crafting lately.
Therefore, I write. I write about my goals. My goals for the future. The future that is full of wide open spaces.
